The view of the Caribbean Sea is awesome here from the cliff. I wouldn't pay for the guides as there are interpretive signs. Also, I would take public transportation to get there as it saves money.
Get there early. There is little to no shade and it can get very hot. The buses from Cancun and the cruise ships arrive around 10 or 11 and it begins to get crowded so getting their early is best!
If you don't know much about this place, do a walking tour with a local guide. It costed about 780 pesos for 2 and it was well worth it. It included the entrance fee and fast-track entry.
Awesome ruins overlooking the sea. Absolutely beautiful. Don't wait in line, there's an info booth by the tram stop that sells tickets so you can go straight in. Signs have English translations.
