Rewarding view after a barefoot climb up a sheltered stairway. Avoid the 200kyat fee for shoes at the foot of the hill, the 1000 kyat fee for cameras at the top is fully worth it
If you have time you can avoid tourists by walking about 500 steps up and see another section and other buddhas midway, before you meet your driver on the hill to take you up to the escalators section
You have to climb barefoot. Watch for sharp edges and countless animal dung scattered like minefields all over the place. Also some pretty disturbing sculptures.
Couldn't see any evidence of a camera fee - instead it now seems to be a flat Ks1000 fee to go to the top level if you're a foreigner. The free level below is still pretty good for sunsets.
Pay 500 kyat to bring your camera in. Well worth it if only to capture the gorgeous view. Keep your toes safe on the escalator as you step on them barefoot!
